Thames Hospice were delighted to welcome members from Ascots President’s Club along to the new Thames Hospice site by Bray Lake, along with Penny Bevan Rahming. The President's Club were the driving force behind the establishment of the Paul Bevan Cancer Foundation in Ascot in 1985. Following the death of her husband Paul in 1981, Penny Bevan Rahming and Paul’s friend Dr Geoff Cook, wanted to provide day-to-day support for local people with a life-limiting diagnosis. They were supported by the President’s Club.
The Foundation merged with Thames Hospice in 2005, and the Day Therapy Unit moved from Ascot to the current Thames Hospice in Windsor in 2017.
Day Therapy services will be amongst the first services to move to the new hospice site in 2020, where we will be able to double our provision and care for more than 600 people a year. The legacy of the Paul Bevan name and Present's Club will continue at our new hospice.
