Borough Local Plan progresses | The Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead is committed to ensuring we take our time to provide an effective Borough Local Plan which is right for our residents.

Following a recent letter from the Inspector via the programme officer, officers will be continuing to work on flooding and site selection.

Public consultation will take place on these sections to gather views from our residents before any further hearings take place.

Cllr David Coppinger, Cabinet Member for Planning, said: “We want to hear the views of our residents and it is important to take time to ensure we deliver an effective plan for the borough.

“It is not unusual for councils to carry out further work on their plans during the examination period given that Inspectors are required to work with councils to assist them to get a plan in place.

“The council is in regular correspondence with the Inspector and will continue with the further work in relation to flooding and site selection.”

The correspondence via the programme officer has been published on the council website.

Once adopted, the local plan will run retrospectively from 2013 until 2033 and will help guide where developments including housing, leisure, retail, office and open space should be sited and how they will fit in with existing and planned infrastructure.

The Borough Local Plan will shape the next two decades of growth and facilitate new homes and infrastructure in the borough.
