The Creative Arts Faculty at Charters School has built quite a reputation over the past few years with their annual stage shows, and this week the Lower School performed Bugsy Malone over two nights.  Historically the school production has taken place in the autumn term with students in the Upper School taking most of the leading role, but for the first time, the younger students staged a production in the summer term and it did not disappoint. Students in years 7, 8 & 9 sang, danced and acted their way through a fantastic show that kept the audience’s toes tapping from start to finish. The play tells the story of the rise of "Bugsy Malone" and the battle for power between "Fat Sam" and "Dandy Dan" and is set in prohibition era America. The Main Hall was transformed into Fat Sam's speakeasy and there were even ‘Splurge Guns’! The joyous entertainment was a testimony to the hard work, commitment and talent of the large cast, crew and band and the standard of the whole production was remarkable, considering it was performed at the end of a busy term.
