On Wednesday 21st February, the Art Department at  Charters School in Sunningdale staged an evening Exhibition featuring the work of students in Years 7, 8 and 9.

Parents, students, staff and Governors viewed pieces created through the techniques of drawing, painting, collage and mixed media.

Whilst celebrating the achievements of the students, the exhibition also raised funds for a new kiln at the school. Mrs Wendy Finch, who is a Year 8 parent said, “It’s great to get the opportunity to see the children’s art and to find out what they’ve been doing in class.  I was really impressed by the high quality of their work.”

Keen to continue its close links with the wider community, Charters welcomed residents from local care homes to a private viewing of the Exhibition on Thursday 22 February. After viewing the art, the guests enjoyed tea and biscuits before being collected.

Subject Leader for Art, Mrs Lee-Wragg said, “I’m delighted to be able to exhibit such a wonderful collection of art work which shows such integrity and effort. The students have done a great job. The evening was well attended and the live jazz performed by the Sixth form musicians added to a great atmosphere. Well done every one!’
