Sunninghill and Ascot Parish Council Planning Committee has objected to some of the detailed development proposals for the former British Gas Site off Bridge Road, Sunninghill. The proposals are for the demolition of two existing redundant cottages and redevelopment of the former Sunninghill Gasworks site, to provide 53 residential houses, 24 residential apartments and 4 residential coach
houses (Class C3) including the provision of new pedestrian and vehicular accesses and routes, car parking, landscaping, open space, remediation and associated works. Application Ref: 17/03036
Despite some aesthetic improvements  to the elevations, the committee considered the following objections applied:..

The 30% affordable should include rental properties as well as shared ownership
Inadequate cycle and pedestrian routes through the site. The footpath from Bridge Road was thought to be too narrow and in poor repair, also the vehicular access from Bridge Road inadequate. Thus contrary to Neighbourhood Plan Policy NP/T2 (cycle routes.). The Committee also object on the grounds that,  some aspects of the application still did not comply with Neighbourhood Plan Policy NP/SS7 – Gas Holder Site.
Inadequate public open space did not meet the Borough policy of 15% open space within the site.
The committee thought that the number of houses should therefore be reduced which would expediate the shortfall.
