Misery mounts for Ascot & Sunnings motorists . The A 329 Bracknell should be avoided with the Martins Heron junction alteration and closure of Priory Road for 5 weeks from January 8th.

Signs have gone up just east of the Ascot High Street / Winkfield junction , advertising gas works from January 4th ( see below). And round the corner in Winkfield Road (beside Racecourse Car Park 6) there are traffic-light-controlled road works.

LONDON ROAD TO BRACKNELL ROADWORKS | DETAILS

From January 2018 three further elements of the overall A329 London Road scheme will be implemented to complete the highway improvements on this part of the 4329 corridor. The second phase consists of:
London Road/ Martins Heron junction traffic signalisation - much like the previous works at the Coral Reef junction, the existing roundabout will be replaced with a signalised crossroads junction.

The London Road / Priory Road traffic signals will be refurbished to incorporate the latest technology. This will enable the signals to operate more efficiently when adjusting to the local traffic conditions. The ability of the junction to automatically respond to changing demands will be improved. The work will be undertaken as part of a collaborative working project with Cadent who
will be refurbishing the gas main through this junction at the same time. This will minimise the
length of disruption at this junction.

The London Road / Fernbank Road signals will also be refurbished to incorporate the latest technology and enable the signals to operate more efficiently.

The Martin Heron Roundabout improvements will start on the 2nd January and will be constructed during 2018. Some minor preparations works will take place during December. The first 8-9 months of this work is expected to be undertaken during off peak hours (9:30 - 16:00) with the junction being returned to normalworking conditions outside of these hours wherever
possible. The final phase will involve the removal of the roundabout, with the traffic light junction taking its place. The  installation of the traffic signals and the laying of the final road surface will, by necessity, involve more intrusive traffic management methods to maintain road safety for the public and the work force. However this will be kept to an absolute minimum.

The London Road / Priory Road traffic signals upgrade - will also start in January 2018 and for practical reasons coincide with essential gas main repair works at the junction. The Gas works require the traffic signals to be temporarily turned off . We will be using this opportunity to undertake our junction upgrade works at the same time. The gas main works will have progressed
along the 4329 London Road between September and November 2017 replacing an ageing gas main and will reach the junction in January 2018. To facilitate these combined works, both Priory Road and Swinley Road will be temporarily closed at the 4329 London Road junction. lt is expected that this arrangement will be in place for approximately 6 weeks from the 8th January.
These side roads have been closed previously for similar works within the junction and found to
be the most efficient method of traffic control.

The London Road / Fernbank Road signals Upgrade is expected to take place during the school summer holidays of 2018, between July and September. These works will again require the traffic signals to be temporarily turned off for a period of approximately 4 weeks.
