The Under-7 football team from Papplewick, Ascot won a Football Tournament which was held at Lambrook School in Winkfield Row on Friday, 13th October -attended by various local schools.

In three group stage matches the boys beat Lambrook thanks to Ludo Hertz with three goals and Benedict Nutter with one. Bishopsgate B team then were beaten 3-0 with goals again from Hertz and Nutter. Upton House were the last group fixture and again the boys played some super football, running out 4-0 winners, with two goals apiece from Hertz and Nutter.

The young team then faced Wargrave primary in the semi. In a tough match, the boys held their shape well and passed and moved the ball with purpose. Nutter then grabbed two solo efforts to give a strong lead at half time. Hertz added a third in the second half to round off a 3-1 win. 

The final was an excellent football match against the Bishopsgate A team. Nutter grabbed two goals, one of which a super solo effort, to give Papplewick a comfortable lead before Hertz finished the scoring and left the school worthy winners. 

Headmaster Tom Bunbury said: “All the boys stepped up and played well. Archie Barry was solid in goal, Finn and Lorcan Delaney were diligent in defence, Rufus Smith-Bannister was energetic and sensible, Hertz sharp and direct and Nutter full of class. A wonderful effort and hopefully the first of many victories!”
