Four boys from Papplewick School in Ascot

Papplewick School in Ascot raced their very own ‘Papplewick Panda’ electric kart at the prestigious Rockingham Motor circuit on 7th July.

The battery-powered kit-kart was built by the boys: Jonny Evans, Hugo Baum, Freddie Hewer and William Eve, in their Design Technology department. At the start of the year, the Kart arrived in the post in lots of cardboard boxes and over the past few months the boys have been busy piecing the kart together with hundreds of nuts, bolts and screws.

After initial testing on the Papplewick playing fields, the boys took the kart to Rockingham race circuit, where they raced against many other karts. All of the team took part in drag races and slalom events, culminating in a one-lap race of the famous Rockingham circuit.
