SPRING FAMILY RACEDAY | Free for children under 18-years-old and boasting a full day of exciting jump racing alongside a range of family fun

Ascot Racecourse’s Colts and Fillies Club is helping local schools to raise money with a ticketing promotion for The Spring Family Raceday on Sunday 2nd April.  Local schools will be selling tickets for the raceday and keeping a percentage of the money taken for their own fundraising projects.

The Colts & Fillies Club, which currently has over 19,500 members, aims to introduce horseracing to the next generation of racing enthusiasts by making the sport accessible and fun.  It is free to join for children aged 17 and under and members can enjoy dedicated family days at Ascot, with specifically tailored activities exclusively for Colts and Fillies members.  Outside of racedays, visits are made to training yards and other places of interest and there is the club horse, Miss Inga Sock, to follow.

The Spring Family Raceday takes place on Sunday 2nd April and boasts a full day of exciting jump racing alongside a wide range of countryside inspired activities.  There will be plenty of action both on and off the track, making it a fun day out that the whole family can get involved in.

In the main arena there are interactive and educational demonstrations between races, including a magnificent falconry display, the hilarious duck herding ‘Quack Pack’, and the annual ‘Lamb National’.  Watch in amazement as Herdwick sheep negotiate a specially designed course and leap over hurdles in an attempt to earn their place in the Winners’ Enclosure. Fame and glory awaits the winner; it is a race that cannot be missed!

Children gain free entry and will be spoilt for choice with the number of fun events and performances on the day.  The lovable but mischievous bunny Peter Rabbit and the world’s favourite monster The Gruffalo will be dropping in to meet the children and Colts and Fillies Mascot, Scotty, will also be out and about throughout the day.

Children can marvel at the magnificent Birds of Prey, laugh at the cheeky ferrets and discover their inner jockey with a pony ride. With jugglers, balloon modellers and face painters too, it’s a whole lot of fun to start the Easter Holidays.

If that’s not enough, visitors will also have the chance to learn about bygone country skills and enjoy a performance by the amazing Rock Choir.

Ashley Morton-Hunte, Corporate and Racing Communications Manager at Ascot, said:

“We are delighted to be able to help local schools with their fundraising endeavours for the third year running.  We hope that it encourages people to get together with family and friends for a fun day out and perhaps encourages families who haven’t been racing before to come and see what it is all about.  With all accompanied children granted free admission it’s a great way to enjoy some family time and raise money for your school.”
