Lunch4Life’ committee’s continuous donations to Breast Clinic at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals

Members of the ‘Lunch4Life’ committee presented a cheque for £16,000 to Consultant Breast Surgeon, Mr Tayo Johnson, at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust on 10th November 2017 and since 2016 have given a total of £28,860 to the Breast Care Unit. Through their auspices, the Breast Unit also had a donation of £75,000 to purchase necessary equipment. These are just part of the many substantial charitable donations the fundraising group have given to the Ashford and St Peter’s breast service over the years.

The ‘Lunch4Life’ committee was set up by Lorna Ponti in 2007 and aims to raise awareness of the disease and funds towards the purchase of new equipment.

Lorna Ponti is very passionate about supporting ASPH breast clinic and has been doing so for a number of years. Lorna said: “I had to face my own diagnosis of breast cancer in 2005. Having been through the treatment journey, I was determined to establish some way to raise funds to help others combat the disease. I chose to support Ashford and St Peter's Breast Unit as it is my local hospital. The great thing is that the money doesn't just go into a big pot – I know what the funds will be used for! I feel very passionate about ensuring that the best care and equipment is available to all who need it, as I can personally relate to what these women and men go through.”

Mr Johnson said: “I would like to thank all of the ‘Lunch4Life’ team for their steadfast and unwavering support over the years. The funds will go specifically towards the purchase of a new mammogram machine at St Peter’s Hospital with the support of the Trust. ‘Lunch4Life’ have significantly contributed to the workings of the Breast Unit over the years and have enabled us to purchase vital equipment required for patient management.  The Trust and our patients have benefited significantly from this generous support over the years.”

We are very grateful for their continuing support of Ashford and St Peter’s Breast Unit.
