If magician Dynamo had been at the Papplewick School MacMillan Coffee Morning on Saturday, 24th September, you might have thought he had just performed one of his illusions, to see how quickly the cake and cream teas disappeared!

Through eating cake, drinking tea and coffee and having a catch up with their chums, Papplewick’s parents managed to raise a staggering £683.13 for MacMillan Cancer Support.

Headmaster Tom Bunbury said: “This is an amazing amount, especially as we're a school of only 200 boys. A huge thank you to each and everyone who came along to our MacMillan Coffee Morning. We would also like to thank those who donated cakes and all who helped set up, clear away, make and serve the afternoon teas. Many thanks also to our chef Paul Beard and his team who prepared the cream teas and cakes.”

Last year the funds raised at Papplewick’s MacMillan coffee morning paid for 35 MacMillan nurses to spend an hour talking with and listening to people who had just received the devastating news they had cancer.
