Two local companies have come together to give pre-school children the opportunity to try their hand at straw bale gardening, an innovative trend which is growing in popularity and proving a successful plant nurturing method. PartyBales® are based in Winkfield Row, and are specialists in hay and straw bale hire, providing bale seating and bale decoration at events, weddings, parties and festivals. PartyBales® are keen to demonstrate the versatility of hay and straw bales and donated straw bales to Little Muddy Boots, a gardening and nature club for pre-schoolers and toddlers based in Ascot and Warfield. Little Muddy Boots was founded by Hannah Brewer, as a result of her passion for promoting outdoor play in the early years. Playing and learning together outside stimulates a child's creativity, supports problem-solving skills, boosts their immune system and most importantly can help create precious childhood memories.

 

On delivery to the two Little Muddy Boots sites the children soon began to explore the straw bales and learnt how they were made and then they watered and fertilised the straw bales in preparation for planting beetroot, carrots and nasturtiums. Hannah Brewer, Founder of Little Muddy Boots said "I am always looking for new and exciting gardening projects for the children in my class and their parents. When PartyBales® offered to donate straw bales, I jumped at the chance so we could have a go at straw bale gardening, we can't wait to see the end result.
