Care UK's  Larkland House, Residents at Larkland House care home in Ascot experienced the sights and sounds of a farmyard when the Mill Farm Cottage Experience payed a visit.

A collection of feathered and furry friends arrived at the care home, including two alpacas, lambs, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, rabbits and a dog. Residents had the opportunity to get up close with many of the smaller animals – holding them and petting them on their laps, while the larger animals were fed and stroked in the garden.

Caroline Walker, home manager at Larkland House, said: “The visit from Mill Farm Cottage provided a wonderful experience for everyone at Larkland House.  We are always looking to introduce new, exciting and stimulating activities for residents, and this particular event proved to be very popular indeed.

“Not only does interaction with animals bring a welcome break from daily routines, it can also reduce anxiety, stress and feelings of isolation, so the visit was of great therapeutic benefit.  All of the farmyard animals were extremely calm and friendly, and this helped ensure the activity was fun and enjoyable for all.”
