Ascot GP practice out of special measures following significant improvements

Green Meadows Partnership rated ‘good’ by Care Quality Commission  following re-inspection...Green Meadows Partnership in Ascot has been taken out of special measures on March 31st. The GP practice has been awarded a ‘good’ rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following a re-inspection on 11th February 2016.

The practice, which looks after approximately 10,000 patients, is awarded a good rating for all areas including safe, effective and caring services that are responsive to people’s needs and are well-led.  At a previous inspection in June 2015, the practice was placed into ‘special measures’. However, the CQC found the practice has made significant improvements in the management of medicines, infection control, training and development of staff, managing complaints and concerns and the practice’s leadership.

Dr Geoff Payne, Medical Director for NHS England – South (South Central) said: “These inspections are about ensuring that every patient receives consistently high quality care.

“The process of special measures has been an opportunity Green Meadows Partnership to focus on making significant improvements and the staff have fully embraced the need to change. They have worked hard over the past months to address the CQC’s concerns and transform the quality of care for patients with the support of NHS England and Bracknell and Ascot Clinical Commissioning Group.

“I am pleased that the practice has been recognised for the improvements they have made and that patients are benefitting from good quality care.”

Dr William Tong, Clinical Chair, Bracknell and Ascot Clinical Commissioning Group commented: “Ensuring the quality of primary care services is crucial for us as a Clinical Commissioning Group and I am really pleased that Green Meadows are now rated as good with the CQC. Through their hard work and dedication, the practice has made positive changes throughout the surgery to meet all the CQC standards that required improvement. We will continue to support all our practices to meet the best standards of care.”

Dr A Fanning, Senior Partner at Green Meadows added: “We are delighted that at our re-inspection the CQC not only removed the surgery from ‘special measures’ but also rated the service we provide as ‘good’ in all areas. This is a huge achievement and reflects the hard work and commitment from all our staff over the last six months. The report confirms that we are now providing the high quality of service that our patients have come to expect of us. We appreciate the support we received especially from NHS England as well as the advice provided by the Bracknell and Ascot Clinical Commissioning Group. In particular I would like to thank all our patients who have been supportive and understanding during the last six months. Our patient support group has been invaluable in helping us to understand where we have needed to make improvements and how best to provide care that is relevant to the needs of our locality. Of course more will always need to be done but I am confident that we are now in a much better position to deal effectively and safely with the demands of modern general practice.”
