Bearwood Lakes golfers support Samaritans

Rain did not deter golfers of Bearwood Lakes Golf Club from a great sporting day which raised very close to £4000 (four thousand pounds) for the local branch of charity Samaritans .

This was the seventh Seniors Team Invitational Classic for Samaritans, held at the club’s magnificent grounds (on Monday, 5 October 2015). Twelve different golf clubs took part, with teams of three from each club. Individual and team prizes were presented by Gary Holloway, chair and owner of the club, after the three-course lunch. Funds were boosted by generous support by sponsors of individual holes, as well as a raffle.  This is a key fundraising annual event for the branch which has its centre at 2 Mount Pleasant, Larges Lane, Bracknell and which is run entirely by volunteers. Branch director Sally said:  “Our grateful thanks go to all involved and to the Bearwood Lakes Golf Club for hosting the event. It is tremendous to know members support us so well, as this is a key fundraising event in our annual calendar and helps ensure we are always there for those who need us.

Samaritans is available round the clock, every single day of the year. We provide a safe place for anyone struggling to cope, whoever they are, however they feel, whatever life has done to them.
