Following exceptional A level results last week, there was more pleasing news for St George’s School, Ascot  this morning, as nerves turned to excitement when Fifth Year (Year 11) girls opened their GCSE results.  42% of all GCSE examinations were graded A* and A, 74% were graded A*-B and 94% were graded A*-C.

St George’s top performers this year were Laura Beaumont (16) from Ascot and Sophie Ross (16) from Virgina Water, both of whom achieved an impressive 10A*s and 1A.  Also celebrating was Lolade Aluko (16) from Ascot who achieved 10A*s.  These three girls’ talents and efforts were also rewarded back in July when they each received Headmistress’s Awards for Outstanding Academic Achievement at Prize Giving.

Seven subject areas including Art and Textiles, Chemistry, Drama, English Language, Latin, Mathematics and Religious Studies all achieved very impressive results.  Of particular note was Fine Art achieving 100% A*-A, Drama 90% A*-A, Latin 80% A*-A and English Language 91% A*-B.

Commenting on these impressive results, Headmistress, Liz Hewer said:  “We aim to get the very best from each girl and Georgian’s are encouraged to work conscientiously and to the best of their ability. This, combined with dedicated and inspirational teaching has delivered an excellent set of results.  Pupils such as Laura, Sophie and Lolade give a great deal to all the activities on offer at St George’s and really deserve to have done so well.  I am very proud of all the girls and their hard work and I have every confidence that this confident and capable year group will continue to thrive in the next chapter of their education”.
