Momentum awarded £2,000 for refurbishment project in Ashford and St Peter’s Paediatric Oncology Ward | The Hospital Saturday Fund awarded £2,000 cheque as a direct result of Momentum’s application last December as part of their on-going ‘Enhancing the Healing Environment’ work.    Zenaid Richards from the Hospital Saturday Fund presented the cheque to Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals’ Chairman, Aileen McLeish and patient Oscar Hesketh-Williamson.

Chairman, Aileen McLeish said: “We are delighted to be collaborating with Momentum to enhance the healing environment for our young patients.  We are very thankful for the £2,000 from the Hospital Saturday Fund, which will go towards Momentum’s current project to improve the facilities in Little Oaks Ward that is likely to cost in the region of £50,000.  The improved facilities will include a chill out area for the patients, new bays for better privacy for patients and a small staff office for dealing with sensitive information and difficult phone calls.”

Momentum is the official charity for Little Oaks, which enables the hospital to improve the ‘healing environment’ for children with cancer or life limiting conditions.  Nikki Howard, Momentum’s Fundraising Team said: “Working in collaboration with Ashford and St Peter’s Little Oaks Ward, Momentum are making use of the ‘Enhancing Healing Environment’ campaign to do just that for the young patients in this ward.”

Zenaid Richards from the Hospital Saturday Fund said: “We are extremely pleased to be able to donate this sum of money to such a great project that will be appreciated by so many young people who have had their stay in hospital brightened up by these improvements.”
